Yes it is summertime. And yes, for some the living is easy. The famous song from Porgy and Bess with music by George Gershwin (and who knew the name of the lyricist?) is a beautiful lullaby evoking the peace and atmosphere of the perfect summer day. The irony is that living appeared to be anything but easy for most of the characters portrayed in the story.
With the stream of information coming at us from all quarters presenting the massive economic turmoil that has only just begun to show its full impact we could be forgiven for bemoaning the fate of what is to befall this and the next generation. Once again I am taken with the irony of the circumstances in which individuals and governments now find themselves. By wanting so much we have made living so complicated that summertime is no longer placid any more than the rest of the year.
The beauty of living in a complicated world of our own making is that we can choose to change it. It is harder and takes more time for governments to change their profligate habits and it will take a bigger lesson for big corporations to stop acting greedily. The change to a simpler and easier life comes about when each individual chooses it. The Dalai Lama has the same message as Gandhi gave us. We must be the change we want to see.
Living can be easy, whatever goes on around us. The route for me is Emotional Fitness. It’s an inside job. Must go now – the fish are jumping. |

Double congratulations to the latest Emotional Fitness Coach – and our first from Fort McMurray – Corina Eddy, whose next project is to get married. Corina joins the fourteen other new EFit coaches and two new EFit Instructors that I named last time.
Watch out for the next round of EFit Coach Training courses to take place in the fall. We hope to offer courses in Calgary, Ottawa, Moncton, Edmonton, Halifax and Victoria. And for those who can’t make it to any of those locations, we will repeat the distance training that has become so successful. Contact me to indicate your interest and request information. Make the living easy. |
